Antique uncolored print of a traditional Russian wooden rowing boat at time from La Perouse expeditions to Russian Asia and the East.

The La Perouse expedition is an expedition "discovery" controlled from 1785 by Jean-Francois de La Perouse , and under the impulse of King Louis XVI of France , in order to drill the ocean Pacific in the line of James Cook even to circumnavigate the globe. The ships of the expedition, La Boussole and L'Astrolabe , ran aground at Vanikoro , which ended the expedition in 1788. Survivors settled temporarily on the spot before disappearing.
