A scarce surviving Yellow-Back edition of a work by Charles Lever. Yellow-Backs (or Mustard-Plaster) were cheap copies published starting in the 1840s meant to appeal to the growing amount of literate lower and middle-class readers, primarily in Britain, with copies not expected to last compared to traditional cloth and leather bindings.
