Calendula is native to Southern Europe and Asia and has been used in traditional medicine to relieve various symptoms. Its flowers are yellow or orange and it emits a strong and fresh aroma.
Its properties for which it is best known are stimulating the growth of new tissue in wounds, reducing inflation, relieving irritation and skin rashes. The essential oil is very useful to add to ointments, lotions, creams, facial tonics, serums, massage oils, etc. It should always be added after the mixture to be prepared has cooled, since being an essential oil, high temperatures cause its evaporation.

Calendula contains Calendula, in addition to oleic acid, Lupeol, Quercetin, Alpha and Beta amyrin, all these compounds give calendula its antioxidant and soothing properties, visibly improve the skin, eliminate dullness, expression lines, dryness, uneven tone and irregular skin texture.

People who are allergic to plants in the Asteraceae family may be allergic to Calendula. Proceed with caution if you are allergic.
