The balde was made of folded Damascus steel in Maru structure smelted and pounded to fold 13 times to creat 8192 layers, Not only can remove the remain impurities of the carbon steel and better distribute the carbon to form the blank, But also allow the layers to bend at rates. A special clay was applied on the blade to control the rate at which the blades cools when quenced after grinding(rough finishing). The clay ensures carbon does not simply escape during this process. What's more,we are Applying different thicknesses of clay to the edge and spine(back) of the blade respectively(Differential hardening),a beautiful real hamon was appeared on the balde result of Differential hardening. The blade was well heat treating (Refining) and quenching(Tempering) greatly improve the hardness for real use. The blade has shaped in "SHINOGUI-ZUKURI" style. The sword is sharp enough for cutting pratice, very good choice for Dojo students and collection, gifts and display. It is durable enough for cutting tameshigiri and bamboo.
(1) The wooden sword stand in item pictures is NOT included. A random sword bag comes with the sword.
(2) This Katana can be taken apart fully anytime for maintenance purposes, you can disassemble the sword from the handle by taking out two pegs.
