Large and unusual antique copper engraved view of Barcelona by Pierre Aveline (1656-1722). 

In lower part, there is a numbered indication of particular places and buildings, from 1 to 29.

"BARCELONE, Ville Capitale de la Principauté Catalogne, seituée sur la mer Mediterranée, à Paris chés Charpentier rüe S. Jacques au Coq"

Size with margins : 52,3 x 35 cm / 20,4 x 13,7 inches

Condition : good condition, old colors, a small repair in lower left corner, a small renfort in the center of the lower margin, strong paper.

Edition : Charpentier, Paris, c. 1740, 18th Century.

Pierre Aveline (1656-1722) was a famous French engraver and publisher, known as Aveline le Vieux. Antoine Aveline, his son, mainly engraved and edited views of cities or royal houses. 

Etienne Charpentier is an engraver, publisher and printmaker. He settled rue Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois, then rue Saint-Jacques au Coq from 1739.
