for the Danbury Mint. The diameter of the plate is 7.75 inches. There are drilled holes in the back

rim for ease of inserting wire for hanging if you desire. The picture on the plate is titled 'Home on

the Mississippi. It depicts a country plantation in the late 1800's, with horse and carriages as well as

a steamboat on the river nearby. The plate has a gold rim and gold/gilt border designs.

The scene is based on an early lithograph by Currier & Ives.

Produced in the mid 1970's, a vintage item.
