A Stanley No 10 carriage maker's rebate plane.


I'd guess at this being a 1930s ish manufacture but couldn't be too sure - the lever cap is a keyhole one which were in use until some time in the 30s, the frog shape is the older flat face style, and there is no frog adjusting screw to the rear, which is another early feature.


The handles are both Rosewood and solid. They have been cleaned and lightly oiled but otherwise unfinished.


The cutting iron is a Stanley England one and has good life left.


The sides and sole have some pitting, and the base has been painted over at some point.


It tested fine and will take a shaving as is (admittedly just along a plain edge and not a rebate), but will perform better with a re- sharpening.
