"La gabbia (The Cage, 1963) is a powerful study of fear and isolation. Cristiano, afraid and disgusted with life, has locked himself in a cage and communicates with those outside only by quoting lines from Chekhov. Like Chekhov's characters, Cristiano seeks comfort in words, but the words never conceal his loneliness and despair, his inability to cope with life." - from the bio of the author.

With the distribution slip of the "Laura Dubman Agency" tipped on to the title page. Dubman, a child prodigy classical pianist, was the wife of Mario Fratti.

A mechanically reproduced newspaper review of the play "Cage"  is mounted on the inside of the front cover, and a bibliography of the author's works is mounted on the inside of the rear cover.
