BILL BASSO – THE AMBASSADOR –
ELDRITCH DESIGN – RARE PAINTED RESIN –
DAN COLONA AFM FEATURE!
Here’s an extraordinary work of art from
the late great Bill Basso and his company Eldritch Design.
Bill cut his teeth in the special effects business
working with Stan Winston and many other legendary effects artists.
His credits include The Island of Dr. Moreau,
Jurassic Park, Interview with the Vampire,
Congo, The Relic, Batman Returns,
Terminator 2 and so many others!
After years in the special effects industry,
Bill dove head first into the fine art world,
creating incredible paintings and illustrations of his original characters.
The last few years before his sudden passing,
Bill’s work was featured in many different galleries.
Bill was also a huge fan of garage kits and
sculpted his fair share of them in the 90’s!
Around the year 2000, Bill teamed up with friend
and special effects artist Paul Meijas and
created Eldritch Design, a model kit company
specializing in original design model kits.
This was ground breaking in many ways,
proving that collectors wanted more than
just another Predator or Terminator model kit.
If the design and execution was killer, collectors wanted it!
All of Eldritch Designs model kits were
expertly molded and cast by Mark Brokaw,
one of the finest in the field!
The first release in the series was titled
“THE WARLORD” and featured an
original design style Orc in armor.
The detail was absolutely incredible.
This was followed up by an original Alien titled
“THE AMBASSADOR” which once again pushed
the detail and forms to new and exciting heights!
The Ambassador featured here,
was beautifully painted by artist Dan Colona
and documented in Amazing Figure Modeler issue #37.
This is the actual piece from the article.
It's very rare to find painted kits featured in articles up for sale!
Dan is an incredible artist and
really did a wonderful job with this piece!
The small mandibles on the side of the head
are removable for shipping.
The piece measures in at 8 ½ inches tall x
5 ½ inches wide (shoulder to shoulder)
4 ½ inches deep
Don’t miss out on your chance to add this
incredible piece to your collection!
