The Wellgo R3 pedals are an excellent, secure, platform clipless system that works with Shimano 3 hole cleats. The large platform provides a secure feel. You have the ability to lessen the spring strength with a tension screw on the underside of the pedal. The steel axles are very strong and perfect for larger riders and powerful legs. Ride on!

A good pedal is critical to maintain security on the bike, comfort and performance. Foot and pedal alignment should be made so that the ball of your foot is aligned with the pedal spindle. Additionally, your knee joint should be directly above the spindle when your feet are in the 9 and 3 o-clock position. Some characteristics to focus on are the pedal float (how much does your foot move while clipped in) and ease of entry and clip security. While more float may provide comfort, it also may reduce clip security. Depending on your type of riding, clip security and float makes a big difference. Climbers and sprinters may want larger platforms with their feet locked in tightly, while, recreational riders and off road cyclists may want ease of entry, more float and easier  foot removal.
