Full text:  GEORGIVS VDEI GRATIA BRITANNIARUM OMNIUM REX FIDEI DEFENSOR INDIAE IMPERATOR

Translation:  Translatedfrom Latin: George the Fifth, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains,Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India.

This legend was displayed on British coinage between 1911and 1936 during the reign of King George V.

By long-standing tradition, the legends of ruling Britishmonarchs are rendered in Latin. On coinage, these are abbreviated because ofthe limited space available.

Reverse   Figure ofBritannia seated facing right on a rock wearing a helmet and flowing robes; sheholds a trident and rests her right hand on a shield which bears the combinedcrosses of the Union Flag; around, the denomination ONE PENNY; in exergue, thedate 1914.
