VERY OLD COLLAR

in “DUCHESS of BRUGES” LACE

from the 19th century

- Collar tip in lace called Duchess of Bruges, composed of bobbin lace with a very fine blond linen thread and needle embroidery in gauze stitch.

It is made up of two large wings at a very open angle and a point pointing downwards (see photo 1 of the whole flat):

The wings each measure 18 cm and the total height of the central tip is 13.5 cm.

Almost the entire collar is made with manual bobbins, but the central floral pattern is made with gauze stitch.

This piece is in very good condition. Just note a bridle wire which needs to be reattached to the base of the right wing, visible in photo 9. That's all.

Also note some foxing at the tips of the wings which is best treated after the lace piece has been put in place.

Gross weight: only a few grams.
