Quarto. 70 pp with fold out plans to rear. Black, paper-covered boards with (much faded) titles to front board, cloth spine, the boards bearing some edgewear but the book solid. A rare title about the excavations in 1895 of a Roman Fort two miles east of Ecclefechan. This copy is distinguished by the bookplate of C(ourtenay) E(dward) Stevens [1905-1976]. Stevens was a a classicist and specialist in Roman-British studies. During WW2 Stevens worked for British Intelligence.
