Built with modern day fast road driving in mind 3.8 litre XK engine fitted with ported E-type head and uprated camshafts• Getrag five-speed gearbox Power assisted rack and pinion steeringSynonymous with the swinging 60s the Mk. II Jaguar is undoubtedly one of the most admired saloons of all time. It is a quintessential piece of not just motoring but British culture too. This Jaguar 340 is far from a standard car. The last owner set out to build this ultimate Jaguar Mk. II around eight years ago with a truly 'money no object' approach. The aim was to build a tastefully modified car with modern improvements and a focus on modern day use with the option to perform some spirited driving, when the time was right. The total build cost was around £40,000 at the time, which of course would be significantly higher today and makes this a very hard car to replicate. The original 3.4-litre engine has been replaced with a 3.8-litre unit, fitted with straight port E-type cylinder head, 300 degree duration camshafts, twin HD8 carburettors, six branch stainless steel exhaust manifold, electronic ignition, high flow oil pump, high torque starter motor and 10" clutch with lightened flywheel. In all, it sounds great, feels great and looks incredible from a presentation perspective. The engine is performs exceedingly well alongside modern cars on the road, thanks to excellent torque and power. The gearbox is five-speed Getrag 265 unit with 3.31:1 diff ratio, again it is a wonderful setup for modern day road use. Stopping power comes in the form of four pot E-type front calipers with ventilated disc brakes, the rear brakes are uprated with two pot XJ6 rear calipers. Power assisted rack and pinion steering has been fitted, giving much better steering feel and useability. Last but not least, an uprated alternator has been fitted with aluminium pulleys to keep everything in check. The metallic grey bodywork presents in excellent order with fantastic shut lines and straight panels. Jaguar Mk. II larger chrome bumpers have been fitted, making the car virtually identical to an earlier Mk. II visually. Moving inside, the cabin has been trimmed in beautiful high quality red leather, presenting in superb order and walnut veneer throughout. The car has only covered around 3,000 miles since being completed and is now available for a fraction of the build cost alone. It is ideal for those who want a Jaguar Mk. II to drive and enjoy without the limitations of 1960's engineering, which can hold these cars back somewhat in standard form..

About us
Our promise: “We ensure you’ll find your ideal classic car.”
Just moments from the M25, or a 23-minute train ride from London Liverpool Street and the City, our Fairmont Sports & Classics showroom team in Brentwood is committed to changing the way classic vehicles are bought and sold.

Classic models across the decades

Our stocklist – with new vehicles arriving daily – spans popular and iconic vehicles from the 60s through to the late 90s and beyond.

Over two floors we present a curated selection of more than 50 sports and classic cars – plus several motorcycles – all fully inspected, checked and ready to drive away, delivered, or shipped overseas.

We buy well so you’re not at risk

The buying team comprises seasoned motor industry professionals: our backgrounds span retail sales, fleet management, auction, wholesale, and service, inspection and maintenance. Having grown up with, driven and loved countless classics ourselves, we know what our customers look for: models and marques piquing current market interest; examples that are in excellent usable condition and order; and vehicles that represent a sound, good value investment.

An online portal search for any classic model will list several hundred vehicles across the UK. The unfortunate truth is that the vast majority, under scrutiny, will prove sub-standard, misrepresented or require uneconomic restoration or repair. Finding a good vehicle without motor trade experience is not for the faint-hearted.

We purchase our cars from private owners, collections and specialist auction houses. We are exceptionally selective about which vehicles we buy, when and why; we reject over 90% of all those we see. Those we purchase match varying customer demands: ‘best in market’ and fully original; fully or partially restored examples; and sound, practical, fun classics to be driven and enjoyed.

Whether you’re an investor, an enthusiast, or simply keen to recapture your youth, we’d love to help you find your ideal classic.
Warranty
We want every customer to be confident in their purchase. Whilst we sell nationwide, many of our sales are local, with some customers revisiting to buy, sell or service more vehicles.

To ensure a worry-free motoring experience, we include our own pre-owned vehicle warranty and provide full servicing and support on-site.

The price of every car includes a six-month warranty for major component failure: engine, transmission, and final drive. For the first three months, it covers the cost of any essential parts and labour. Thereafter we provide a 50% discount on any essential parts and labour for the remaining three.

We also operate our own on-site workshop offering specialist classic vehicle servicing, maintenance and repairs. The same mechanics that inspected and prepared your vehicle for sale will be delighted to keep it in good working order throughout your ownership.
