Engraved Julep Cup Coin Bottom German 800 Silver Mono 1891

Antique German 800 silver julep cup, decorated with engraved oval cartouche on the front, inscribed "Zur Erinnerung an den 21 Juni 1891" (German, "In memory of June 21, 1891"). Interior is gilt. The bottom features a silver coin inset - the Vereinsthaler, a standard silver coin used in most German states and the Austrian Empire in the years before German unification; issued 1869, it depicts Ernst, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.

This amazing cup is 3 3/8" tall, 2 5/8" in diameter, weighing 79.2 grams or 2.55 ozs Troy.

The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
