2017 Britannia Six Coin Silver Proof Set BR17SS

20th anniversary pre-owned, 6-coin silver proof 2017 Britannia sets from a limited edition presentation. The first Britannias were issued by The Royal Mint in 1997 as an investment coin. Two decades on the UK's national mint celebrated with a special collectors range featuring a special one-year-only reverse by Louis Tamlyn. This unusual Britannia design uses a map of the British Isles to form the body of the warrior goddess, set against the Union flag. The artist was inspired by the historic meaning of 'Britannia' as a word used by the Romans to describe Great Britain. These coins all feature a small trident mintmark to the right, authorised by The Royal Mint to celebrate the anniversary. Six-coin silver Britannia sets like these contain 1oz, 1/2oz, 1/4oz, 1/10oz, 1/20oz and 1/40oz coins, all struck in 999 silver with a proof finish. In total these 2017-dated coins offer 60.25 grams of pure silver. 2,500 of these silver proof Britannia sets were issued in 2017.
