Unusual Malacca and hallmarked silver walking stick or cane with an unusual bamboo jasper sphere pommel. The silver collar is trumpet shaped so the the sphere can sit into it.
We've had these before but never with such clear, geometric colouration within the stone.
The silver collar was assayed in London as shown in the pictures, date letter for 1919 and makers mark for john Culver, stick maker for Benjamin Cox, stick retailer at 411 Oxford Street, London.
Strong Malacca shaft, the colour of which compliments the agate perfectly. Twin silver wrist strap eyelets within the shaft.
It measures 92 cm 36 1/4 inches in length, the pommel is 5 cm 2 inches wide.
The ferrule is of steel and brass and in good order.
It's in excellent condition but with some signs of age and use as you'd expect at this age.
Some surface marks to the silver as shown but no damage or repairs.
The sphere is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs, only the usual crystalline imperfections you expect with natural stone.
Good looking country stick and strong enough to support a good weight.
