Antique French Italian Lithograph, Vatican Costumes, Rome,

Fedele del Campidoglio, By Perugini and Lavoisier, 1862

As indicated in French and Italian underneath the image, this colored lithograph depicts an “Fedele del Campidoglio”. This lithograph is the thirty-first plate in the “Album ou Collection complète et historique des costumes de la Cour de Rome”, a series of 80 lithographs, with descriptions in French and Italian, and is from the second edition published in Paris in 1862 (the first edition was in 1852). It was drawn from life by Giuseppe Perugini, Italian artist, and lithographed by Léon-Amédée Lavoisier, French printer and lithographer in Paris. This piece depicts a “Fedele del Campidoglio” or footman, sixteen in number, they assisted Roman magistrates on the Capitoline Hill. This piece is mounted on Canson paper which shows slight folds and yellowing on the edges. The lithograph itself is in very good condition, with the exception of very slight yellowing and tiny tears along the right hand edge where the lithograph was detached from the album. This handsome print will be an excellent  addition to your collection of prints or a handsome decorative piece on your wall.

Please have a look at our other listings, we have other lithographs from the same series.
