Temple of Vesta, Grand Tour

This antique French watercolor depicts a fantasized view of Tivoli, with the Temple of Vesta in the background surrounded by palm trees, parasol pines and cypress tress. In  the foreground, a stairway flanked by monumental urns leads to a raised terrace. Two men in 18th century costumes stand at the top of the stairs while a lady reclines on bench on the terrace. This watercolor was certainly created by a French artist during a trip to Italy for the purpose of studying the works of antiquity, as did so many young French artists who made the “Grand Tour” in the 18th century. This watercolor shows significant signs of wear, with a few small holes and stains and folds and tears on the upper edge which appears to have been folded to fit into a frame. Despite  these signs of age, this very charming antique watercolor will be a handsome  addition to your collection or a lovely decorative piece on your wall.

Items in the US are sent via USPS.

Items in Paris, France, are sent by registered mail via the French Post Office.

No questions asked return policy. Items must be returned in 14 business days. Item must be returned undamaged, in its original condition and packed, shipped, and insured in the same manner. Buyer pays return shipping and a 10% restocking fee.
