Antique French Devotional Plaque Signed J. Delpech,

The Virgin Mary with the Infant Jesus and Saint John the Baptist


This antique French plaque, in bas-relief displays an image of the Virgin Mary with the Infant Jesus and Saint John the Baptist. With a beautiful matte patina on the front, it was executed using the repoussé technique and is furnished with its four original nails for attaching it to a wooden base. It is signed “J. Delpech”. Jean-Marie Delpech (born in 1866 in Banios, in the French Pyrénées) was a French engraver, student of Alphée Dubois at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Winner of the coveted Prix de Rome, he lived at the French Academy in Rome in 1890, and won several awards at the prestigious annual Paris Salons during the 1890’s -1900’s.  Twenty eight of Delpech's creations - medals and plaques - were exhibited at the legendary French Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1900. This piece is in good condition with the exception of normal signs of age. Please refer to the detailed photos on this page.

Items in Paris, France, are sent by registered mail via the French Post Office.

No questions asked return policy. Items must be returned in 14 business days. Item must be returned undamaged, in its original condition and packed, shipped, and insured in the same manner. Buyer pays return shipping and a 10% restocking fee.
