The insulator is Bakelite so it will never melt during the solder process. The gold plating is on top of a copper plating on top of the machined brass. Designed for salty marine use and it wont turn green like others. THE CONNECTORS ARE SOLDERED  THE FULL CIRCUMFERENCE BETWEEN THE CONNECTOR AND REDUCER FOR AN ABSOLUTE SOLID CONNECTION.
