Tomato plug plants sold in 3’s Cherry, Salad and Beefsteak English & European varieties Despatched in protective containers, please note we only post Monday to Thursday in the first class post to save the plants being in transit over a weekend Please plant your tomato plant as soon as you receive it and water in well, if it has wilted a little stand in a jar of water for a while Indeterminate & Determinate – what does is mean and how to grow them. All tomatoes should be grown in rich well drained soil, do not overwater them and feed regularly when fruits start to develop. Determinate plants grow to a certain point, and then stop, with a shorter stature overall. They tend to ripen earlier and grow as a bush. They can also be grown in pots or hanging baskets. Indeterminate tomato plants keep growing and producing fruit all season until the first frosts. You grow them as a cordon and will require staking and regular pruning. Remove any side shoots and grow them as a single stem. When fruits start developing gradually remove any leaves over a few weeks until you get to the bottom truss. Once you have six trusses pinch out the top and keep removing side shoots this helps the plant focus it’s energy on the fruits you have. Tomatoes need a good airflow to ripen so you can remove some of the leaves smothering any trusses to aid airflow
Alicante A good all-rounder, 'Alicante' is very reliable and productive, with big trusses of medium-sized fruit with a pleasantly sweet flavour. They're early to mature, so you'll be guaranteed a crop even in less-than-perfect
Brutus Brutus is a giant beefsteak tomato variety. The fruits are thickly ribbed and slightly flattened at the bottom. Tomato Brutus is about 10 times the size of an ordinary tomato. The very large, delicious-tasting tomatoes are very heavy and filled with thick and juicy flesh. Brutus is a vigorous, medium early indeterminate tomato variety. A spectacular variety for growing outdoors or in the greenhouse.
Golden Ozarowski (Zloty Ozarowski) The Golden Ozarowski tomato comes from Poland and is a beautiful, bright orange variety that is prolific and early. The large, robust plants bear lots of small round, about 100 – 120 grams weighing fruits. Recommended for growing outside and in greenhouses. They have a sweet and intense flavour and are best eaten fresh as a snack and as a splash of colour in the salad. It is a medium early indeterminate Cordon variety. Oxheart – Cuor Di Bue The Oxheart Tomato is an Italian heirloom tomato that produces extraordinarily large, meaty, ox-heart shaped fruit in a brilliant orange-red. Growing up to 200g, these beefsteak beauties are perfect for slicing, sauces, and Mediterranean-style dishes. It is a late indeterminate cordon variety that requires staking and pinching out side shoots to focus energy on ripening
Raspberry Giant (Malinowy Olbryzm) Raspberry giant is a fantastic pink beefsteak tomato from Poland. "Malinowy Olbrzym" translates to "Raspberry /or/ Pink Giant" in Polish. Produces large amounts of super yummy, slightly flattened fruits often weighing more than 200g. It is a medium late determinate variety that will require staking, it can be grown under glass or outside
Piccolo Possibly the best cherry vine tomato that is hard to beat. Piccolo tomatoes, an heirloom variety, not only have high sugar levels, but this is balanced with high acidity creating a fabulous flavour. Grow under glass or outside in a sunny spot. It is an indeterminate cordon variety that requires regular pruning. |
