Here is an interesting decorative ceramic mask, likely originating from Zaire / DRC, more specifically the Mangbetu tribe, Who knitted their hair on wicker strands and applied a headband to the forehead.

The mask has a large browline with a hand carved design, pierced ears, and a flowing design underneath the eyes, possibly representing tears or sadness. It is finished with a red pigmentation.

It is 26 cm high 22 cm wide and 9 cm deep. It has a hole on the reverse for hanging, indicating that it was made purely for decorative purposes.
