Vintage French Art Deco Christofle Alfenide Silverplate Fish Flatware Set,

Forks and Knives, 12 pcs

This stylish vintage French silverplated fish flatware set is made up of six knives and six forks designed in the Art Deco style. Each piece bears the maker’s mark of the famous Maison Christofle in Paris - the initials O.C. (Orfèvrerie Christofle) surrounding the figure of a knight from a chess set. They also bear the maker’s mark of the Alfenide company, the image of a ram’s head, the symbol of the Halphen company, and the name “Alfenide” in a rectangle. There is a third mark with the number “48” indicating the silver content in grams. The Alfenide company was founded in the 1850’s by the Halphen brothers. At the end of the 1880’s, the Alfenide company was bought out by the Maison Christofle, renowned for their silverplate flatware. The Alfenide factories continued production until the mid-1930's and were among the suppliers of silverware for the many of the famous French transatlantic liners between 1910 and 1920. These forks and knives are in very good condition with the exception of faint scratches. This set will be prestigious additions to your table setting or your collection. Please refer to the detailed photos on this page.
