In good condition, with minor rubbing and wear to exterior, primarily along edges and corners. Light cracking to hinge near rear.  Text block remains bound well and in good condition. Light markings and marginalia. Staining around edges and corners of some pages. Nicely illustrated throughout with black-and-white sketches. A scarce first biannual printing, along with the inclusion of “The Voice of Science” by Sherlock Holmes author Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930). While Sherlock Holmes had existed in print since 1887, he would become popular in the July 1891 issue, which included the short story “A Scandal in Bohemia.”
