1905 Bronze Sullivanesque Doorknob & Plate From The Rockefeller Building In Cleveland

The building was constructed in 1905 for Standard Oil. John D Rockefeller. The architects, Knox and Elliot, met while working for Burnham and Root in Chicago at the same time as Louis Sullivan. The influence is clear in the hardware and the terracotta exterior of the building.

A few knobs, plates, sash pulls, and other pieces have come on the market but the doorknobs are usually built into a unit lock - it’s hard to find this pattern in a standard doorknob that takes a standard passage shaft.

I have 2 knobs and 2 plates if you want to make a set. If you buy both knobs and plates I’ll supply the original lock. This auction is for one knob and one plate.

I have also listed a mail box slot and large pull from the same pattern / building.
