DESCRIPTION
Where the Dirt Runs Out of Road - Crazy Daysies CD
The Crazy Daysies are a healthy slice of apple-pie Americana for your ears. The duo- South Carolina born sisters Rebecca Day and Jen Thompson- employs the tried-and-true blend of country music staples: crisp acoustic guitar, soaring viola, and a fiery belle with a voice powerful enough to fill every corner of the room. The sisters signature sound is clean, simple and heartfelt, evident in their stripped down cover of Carrie Underwoods Blown Away- theres not enough wind in Oklahoma to rip that songs hook out of your head. But dont mistake them for just another cover band. The Crazy Daysies debut studio EP, out later this month, includes three original songs and one cover. -Folio Weekly (Jacksonville, FL) Feb. 19-25, 2014 issue ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Press Release for Where The Dirt Runs out of Road Jacksonville, FL based duo, The Crazy Daysies, will debut EP at release party hosted by Aloft Hotel- Tapestry Park, May 3rd (Jacksonville, Fla.)- Rebecca Day and Jen Day-Thompson, the two sisters who make up acoustic country music duo, The Crazy Daysies, will release their debut EP amidst supporters in the courtyard of the Aloft Hotel in Tapestry Park on May 3rd. Rebecca Day began her professional music career as a solo artist, eventually bringing her sisters viola style and co-writing abilities to the mix in early 2013. After spending time co-writing, and writing on their own, they began the recording process of their first EP together with Jacksonville-based producer and recording engineer Josh Cobb of Rockbot Studios. The debut EP, Where The Dirt Runs out of Road, features songs themed on topics involving inner strength, lost love, and heritage. The album opens with an anthem about finding ones inner-strength and overcoming obstacles in the gritty track, Until I Win. Lifes hardships often spur Rebeccas lyrics. She said: "I dont often sit down and start writing a love song. That has happened to me once in my life. When I sit down and my writing process starts happening, I generally turn to what is bothering me at the moment; what is worrying me. What do I need to write about so I feel stronger and can find peace." The EP contains a powerful ballad about lost love. Though Drinkin Down You, is a spiritual trek into loss with lyrics supported by driving guitars, offset by a strong drum beat. The sisters let the songs guide them a bit, etching out room in the heart of the EP for a viola solo, something that listeners dont often get to hear on recorded tracks. Jen said: "Its exciting and pretty cool to play an instrument people dont often associate with country music. When we perform live, so many people think what Im playing is a violin, but I love playing the viola because I feel like its such a soulful instrument. Its got a deep sound, which adds a very cool element to our music." Jen also gets a kick out of people accustomed to hearing a violin instead of the deeper timbre of the viola. "Everybody just calls it a fiddle anyway," she said. The title track to the EP, Where The Dirt Runs out of Road, is an ode to where the songwriting sisters are from originally, South Carolina. "When we put together the song, we wanted it to be absolutely autobiographical. We carry with us when we travel, when we perform, when we write, our roots. They go very deep and are very strong. Where The Dirt Runs out of Road, is a celebration and recognition of that. Its a little piece of very important history for us, and its not the last song we will write about in regards to our time spent in South Carolina. I must say, we love living in Florida as well. Jacksonville is an incredible city full of opportunity for musicians," Rebecca said. The EP closes with another particularly autobiographical piece called, Cheers to gettin sober. The song takes the listener on a storied journey complete with "beauty queen brawls", recovery groups gone wrong, and a musicians life spent performing in bars. In the end, though, the song is a tribute to the genuine gratitude both sisters have for their supporters. The Daysies couldnt be more excited about the upcoming release and cannot wait to share the moment with their friends, family and supporters. "We have met so many people while on this incredible journey, and at the end of the day, they are what its all about. They make our nights performing in different venues feel amazing. They buy or merchandise. They spread the word about our music. This release party isnt just about us debuting our EP, its about celebrating all of our supporters who help us to be able to continue doing what we love," said Jen. The EP release party for, Where The Dirt Runs out of Road, is being held May 3rd in the courtyard of the Aloft Hotel in Tapestry Park from 4:00-6:30 pm. The Crazy Daysies will perform all of the songs off the EP, and then some, during the event. There will be some prize giveaways and announcements about future plans as well.Specifics
