J.G.B. Fans !!! who dig the Really-Rare !!  And, naturally too ... the Always-Fantastic ! Dead Head Friendly ' Holiday ' of Halloween !!!  Wow ... well, this I can say for certain - on " Halloween 1981 " there was Absolutely ! no-better place to be in the entire land - then in the Tower Theater !!!  Garcia only played a handful of " Halloween ! " Nights with the J.G.B. - and with his other prior side projects ( Garcia & Sauders - Legion Of Mary - etc. ) - and of course, a few with the Good Ol' Grateful Dead ! too.  But, if you caught Jerry on Halloween ! with any of his side projects - well, very nice going indeed ... as in fact, your only chances were in 1974 & 1975, 1981 ! - 1986 through 1989 ! - 1992 & 1993 !  So ... yeah - only Nine ( 9 ) Chances Ever ! to see Garcia on Halloween !! - not with the Grateful Dead - that is, naturally ...  And, I am sure glad that I myself had that fine-honor !  But, I must say ... from a Music perspective ?  Well, everyone has their favorites - and tastes of era, etc. indeed ... but to me personally ?  This - or, as I should more properly say ' These ' Two ( 2 ) Shows ( Early & Late Shows ) at the Tower in PA ... were arguably the Hottest !!! of them all.  I mean hey, after-all ... this is '81 J.G.B. that we are talking about here - and, quite frankly ... when Garcia wanted to turn up the Heat ! - and Scorch-It ?! ... Garcia Turned Up the Heat & Scorched !!! It !!!!!  Big-Time ...  This 10/31/81 Show(s) at the Towers was an Early & Late Show scenario - somewhat common in this Era, but ... with the Garcia Band ?!  This even better yet ... meant that you got to hear All !!! the goods - as they were spread very-nicely between the Two-Shows ... I mean basically, if you went to both !! - then you're hearing close to 75%+ of the J.G.B arsenal - that they were delivering on this '81 Fall Tour !!!  A Red-Hot ! East Coast swing - and this 10/31/81 Magic ! actually kicked-off the Start ! of this 14 Venue J.G.B. Tour !!!  So, yep ... you guessed it - Jerry & Co. were Fresh !! ... and Smokin' !!!  I acquired the released portion of this 10/31/81 Show - way-way back in the analog days, and then... at sometime in the mid-'90's - was even lucky enough to staff-up to the tasty DAT Magic that also circulated, but ... not so widely, obviously.  And, quite frankly these Shows just Cook !!! - and, I'm not really sure if it was a Halloween-vibe thing - or - if it was just the ' Tour Opener ' !  But ... the J.G.B. just comes out Swinging !!!  And, they don't stop until the Sugaree ! gets played ... and, as The Encore !!!  This '81 J.G.B. unit was one of the Hottest ! Garcia-Band units there ever was ... with Jerry - John Kahn - Melvin Seals - Daoud Shaw ( Drums ) - Jimmy Warren ( Electric Piano & Clavinet ) - and both ! Essra Mohawk & Liz Stires on dual Vocals !  Plus ... this is '81 Garcia on Guitar ! - which, at least to my ears ... is some of the Hottest ! of All-Time - in the J.G.B. format.  And, as far as the material ?  Wow ... just everything that Every ! Garcia Band lover would want to hear - just check out this stuff ... and the order-too ! >>>  Sweet It Is - TLEO - Mission - Love in the Afternoon - Mystery Train - 2nd That Emotion ... Don't Let Go - Russian Lullaby - Knockin' - Prudence - Tangled Up ... Sweet It It - Catfish John - That's What Love Will Make You Do - Simple Twist - Knockin' - Roadrunner - Deal - Tangled Up ... Way You Do - TLEO - Valerie - Melody - Russain Lullaby - Dixie > Prudence ... Sugaree !  Wow ...  Get your ears on this action - for certain !!  And, of course ... ' The ' Backstage Pass too - which is now nearly 45-Years Old ?!?  Man, oh man ... There were indeed many ! a " Happy Halloweens " for the Garcia Band Faithful - and this one here is undoubtedly ... right up there at the Very-Top !  1981 Fall Tour where the Master ! himself - could really do no-wrong on that Tiger ! fret board !!  Thunder, Lightning ... and Garcia !!!  Now how's that for a little '81 " Trick or Treat !?! " ... Enjoy !!!!!
