Box set containing three popular thrillers. In 'The Bone Collector' (1999), when street cop Amelia Donaghy (Angelina Jolie) discovers a hideously mutilated corpse, her superiors call on forensics expert Lincoln Rhymes (Denzel Washington) to investigate. Paralysed after an injury sustained in the line of duty, the case gives Rhymes a new lease of life, but he needs a reluctant Donaghy to do the legwork for him if he is to stop the murderer from striking again. In 'The Skeleton Key' (2005), Caroline (Hudson) is a care worker who moves in with terminally ill Ben (John Hurt) to look after him. Suspicious of his emotionally cold wife Violet (Gena Rowlands), and able to sense a strange atmosphere in the house, Caroline gets hold of a skeleton key that allows her access to the house's many locked rooms. In the attic she finds a room decked out with the grotesque remains of a voodoo ritual, although Violet claims not to have known of its existence. As Ben suffered his stroke shortly after discovering the room himself, Caroline is determined to find the secret to the sinister house, and its dark history as a centre of occult worship. In 'Panic Room' (2002), when Meg Altman (Jodie Foster) and her teenage daughter Sarah (Kristen Stewart) move into a luxury Manhattan townhouse they have no plans to use the ultra-secure 'panic room' installed by the previous occupant. But on their first night in their new home, three burglars break-in with plans to steal the money they believe is still concealed in the panic room's safe. Meg and Sarah then quickly take refuge in the secure chamber, locking themselves in and watching the burglars through the surveillance system; what follows is a tense cat-and-mouse game, as the criminals attempt to unlock the room and the mother and daughter try to signal for help.
