This is a very unusual gothic item.  It looks like a door knocker but it is much too lightweight.  The las photo shows the hollow interior that makes it so light.  I thought perhaps it was for a cabinet pull or maybe even for holding a scarf.  It measures about 3 1/4 inches long and about 2 1/4 inches wide.  It is from the 1800s.
