This is a superb and rare to find Antique Apprentice Piece Rosewood Chiffonier with a Frieze Drawer, which is in good condition but does exhibit a little age-related wear with a few light marks to the surface but nothing major. The glass to the doors is also in good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration.

To the base of the Frieze Drawer there is a date inscribed of March 30 1844.

Overall it measures approximately 24cm wide by 9cm deep at the base and 29.5cm high at the back.

These miniature pieces are often referred to as apprentice pieces or salesman samples with the majority of miniature furniture being sample pieces used by travelling salesmen. Workshops would send out salesmen on lengthy country-wide tours, with a miniature of each piece on his sales cart. This meant the cabinet maker could use the smaller form to show off their skills, without the salesman having to lug a full-size piece of furniture wherever they went. It offered a fantastic way of potential buyers being able to get a feel of the quality of goods the workshop produced, before committing to a purchase.

Miniature pieces of furniture are very rare to find in exactly the same design, highly desirable and very collectible items, with this one being no exception. It would make a great addition to any collection or as a beautiful decorative piece.
