Carte de visite showing a head and shoulders photograph of a well dressed man. On the back written in pencil: Napoleon III.

Photographed and / or published by Disderi and Co, 8 Boulevart des Italiens, Paris.

Card measures, including borders, about 10 cm x 6 cm.

A carte de visite usually consists of a small photograph, as is the case here, that is affixed to a backing card. It was a very popular format in the mid to late 19th century.

Condition: various scuffs, scratches and other blemishes to image and also a curved impression above the man which has probably been caused by a facing page in a photograph album at some point in the past; some bumps and wear to corners and edges of the backing card and some surface marks / discolouration; man's eyes may have been touched up at some point i.e. his pupils.

Condition is subjective so please study the photographs carefully to make your own judgement.

The colours in the photographs will not be completely accurate due to variables in the photos or scans we use and individual computer settings.
