This is a great value lens which delivers the same kind of image quality as the Canon AF 85mm lens but for less than 1/4 of the price!
The lens is a manual optic and hence focusing and aperture must be adjusted manually, but the camera will still provide automatic exposure!

The 85mm focal length lends itself to portrait work but the lens also makes a great general purpose medium telephoto lens with the ultra fast F/1.8 aperture enabling the user to use shallow depth of field to isolate subjects.
The fast aperture also allows for higher shutter speeds meaning the lens continues to be usable in light levels that would cause slower lenses to succumb to shake induced blurring.
I recommend using the camera in liveview mode for focusing as you can zoom in and get the focus just right! I even use this manual focusing technique with my autofocus lenses if I have time as it often results in sharper focus than the camera can manage by itself!
This attractively styled lens is made to last and features robust metal build quality. It is also incredibly compact for an 85mm lens and is closer to the size usually associated with a 50mm. To get the same kind of image quality from a new autofocus lens you would need to spend several times more!
