The 2nd volume of “History of Ottoman Coins” focuses on and examines the
coins of Sultan Suleyman the Magnificent.

The basic difference between our 1st and 2nd volume is that the former
reflects the economical life of the first 150 establishment years of the
Ottoman Empire, while the latter reflects the economical life of later years;
that is, after the State turns into an Empire.

The variations in the monetary units, which had initiated with Sultan Selim
the Grim but was not properly settled due to the Sultan's short reign,
was satisfactorily applied during the reign of Sultan Suleyman.
Consequently, the 2nd volume of our book, which is solely dedicated to the
coins of Sultan Suleyman the Magnificent, explains all about the changes and
innovations in the monetary system of his reign.
