SUZUKI GORO LARGE SHINO HANAIRI VASE

A vase made by Japanese Master Ceramicist Suzuki Goro (1941-)

Loosely thrown and and decorated with energetic iron brushwork over a satin shino glaze.

Dimensions approx 11cm wide, 25.5cm tall.

Potters incised signature on the base.

Complete with original signed box. 

Good condition.  There is one small stained craze mark - see final photo.

One of Japans most celebrated ceramic artists, Suzuki Goro focuses on Momoyama inspired Mino wares including Shino, Oribe, Setoguro and Ki-Seto.  However, his works are more than mere copies of historic masterpieces - they exhibit the freedom and energetic spirit which only truly comes after mastering the art.
