Fujiwara Keisuke (also known as Fujiwara Kyosuke) was born in 1939 into the Fujiwara family of Bizen potters.  He is the second sone of Living National Treasure Fujiwara Kei (1899 - 1983), and younger brother of Living National Treasure Fujiwara Yu (1932 - 2001).  After he graduated from Tokyo Bunka University, he moved to Gifu to study at the Tajimi Ceramics Institute.  At Tajimi he studied Shino glaze techniques, which he would eventually combine with Bizen-ware to create a new type of ware.  In 1964 he returned home and studied under his father before opening his own kiln in 1965.  He was selected for many exhibitions and won several awards before his first solo exhibition in 1985.  He was active with regular solo exhibitions up until 2011
