Prometheus stole fire and gave it to humans. Zeus condemned Prometheus to eternal torment for his transgression. 

Prometheus was tied to a rock and a vulture - the emblem of Zeus - ate his liver once a day. 

His liver grew back at night and the vulture ate his liver during the day. Prometheus was freed by Hercules.
