- The F-5 is a fighter aircraft developed in the 1950s in the United States, and the improved E/F type is called Tiger II.
- The F-5E replaces the F-5A with a more powerful J85-GE-21 engine, adds an AN/APQ-153 air-to-air radar, air combat flaps and two-stage retractable nose landing gear.
- The F-5F is a two-seat training fighter version of the F-5E, and unlike the F-5B, it is equipped with a cannon and radar.
- In Taiwan, the AIDC (Aero Industry Development Center) started licensed production of the F-5E/F in 1973.
