Here is a rare example of an American Revolutionary War canteen, likely used by a soldier in the English infantry.

It features a teardrop shape with two feet which allow it to stand upright. It is constructed with wooden slats, banded together with metal. It has a stopper and strap, attached with chains. Due to the construction of the chain, it is likely these are replacements for the original straps, which may have been made of leather and perished over time.

The flask is in very good condition for it's age, with no major defects or losses. There is some slight damage to one of the edges of the spout, and one or two inactive woodworm holes.
