THE UNION BANK OF SCOTLAND - 1859 KILMARNOCK cheque, bearing the large circular impressed duty stamp dated May 1858.
The Union Bank of Scotland was only formed in 1843, and therefore these are very scarce early cheques as issued from this bank.
These early 1858 dated cheques are printed by Perkins, Bacon & Co. London, who in 1863 took over the printing of the banknotes from W H Lizars.
