Unlike cels and drawings, only a limited number of backgrounds were created by hand. Only about 6000 were created and this is one of those.

This hand painted background is from "JellyFishing and can be seen at the very beginning of the episode.

It is I believe one of the first backgrounds that the SpongeBob Background artists got to play with the designs. Ripped Pants which was created later also had a tremendous amount of creative backgrounds.

SpongeBob backgrounds are supposed to have the feeling of Hawaii in them and notice that pacific influence in this piece of art. This is the 4th background that was shown when you watch the episode. 

This would be perfect with a SpongeBob cel on top!!
