Inuit Soapstone Carving Of A Inuit Man By Abraham Pov 12 Inches.

A beautiful soapstone carving by Abraham Pov and most likely one of his last few as he passed away in 1994. This carving was completed in 1993 and is very distinctive to his style. It’s a big one at 12 inches in height and 6.5 inches wide weighing approx 12.2 pounds. I’ve estimated the shipping based on this weight however if the costs are lower I will refund the difference.

In terms of condition it is in good shape but does have some issues.

1) minor knicks, mostly near the base.

2) larger ones on the back of the head/hood.

3) There is what I believe is a natural crack in the stone that runs along the back of the carving.

4) There looks to be scratches all along the stomach, back and back of the head. They more noticeable when using bright light.

I’ve taken the photos in bright sunlight to bring out all the wear and scratches vs in a normal household environment where it’s not as noticeable. An example of an indoor shot can be seen on the final photos.

At auction a carving of this size from Abraham would most likely go north of 1000 dollars. I’ve priced it lower due to the scratches.

Please review the photos and feel free to message me with any questions. I’m happy to take customized photos on request.
