This also happens to be the day, that a group of American citizens being held in Iran for over 440 days were released from captivity. It is often seen that Reagan's ascendence to the Presidency was the event which triggered the release of those hostages. In any case, this wonderful original license plate, officially issued in the District of Columbia, commemorates that very Inauguration Day in 1981. It's dimensions are comparable to most common automobile license plates of the standard size, 12 inches x 6 inches.
