This lot of United States WAR DEPARTMENT Official postage stamps from the late 1870s is a must-have for any stamp collector. Featuring denominations of 1, 2, 3, 6, 12 and 30 cents, and the likenesses of Alexander Hamilton, Henry Clay, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Andrew Jackson, and Benjamin Franklin. Stamps of this type are perfect for anyone interested in military topics, back-of-book stamps, and US history.

These stamps were issued by the American Bank Note Company between 1871 and 1880. Although they are used, they are in nice vintage condition, part of an estate collection that was stored in a safe for decades. They have not been graded. This lot is a great starter group and perfect addition to any collection of US Back of Book Stamps.
