I have for your consideration an elegant blonde lady china head doll dating to around 1880. Her lace gown is original and just beautiful. Her story is the best kind of story. If you look at the last two photos this little lady came to a doll repairer from the original owners great-great granddaughter. Her body was beyond repair. But she was given a new body and stands at a regal 18 inches and feels proud once again. Her back shoulder plate is marked with a 6 and Pat Dec 7/80. I believe her arms are original but I am not certain. Her shoes are A-MA-ZING, and original to her. Her gown has wire forms at the neckline. I know for certain whoever made it originally took those curvy wires from the stand up neck of a lace bodice and transformed it into this stunning gown with a long tail at the back of the bodice. The bodice also has full length sleeves trimmed at the wrists with blue/gray silk and silk covered buttons down the front. The bodice closes with hook and eyes as well. Blue silk and black velvet ribbon makes up her waist tie as well as the bows down the front of her dress. The skirt is a silk charmeuse with a front placate of lace overlay and closes with a hook and eye at the waist. Note the beautiful trim at the hem. The decorative medallion is an antique put on a more recent pin back. She also sports a Victorian seed bead blue glass necklace which has been restrung but is original. Her pantaloons are not original to her and I believe that they are earlier, around 1870. The construction is quite unique with a ballooned hip area and then rows of pin-tucks and a lace insert as well as the most delicate lace trim.  Love and dedication has saved this doll and her beautiful garments from disappearing forever.
