Raymond Thibesart naît le 2 mai 1874 dans une famille aisée à
Bar-sur-Aube. Peu de temps après, ses parents s’installent à Enghien,
dans la proche banlieue de Paris.
Thibesart étudie par la suite à l'Ecole des beaux-arts et à l'Académie Julian à
Paris. Ses professeurs l’initient au courant artistique du Symbolisme
qui a influencé ses premières œuvres.
En 1897,
Raymond Thibésart devient membre, puis
médaillé d’or de la Société des Artistes Français. Il expose
régulièrement au Salon d’Automne et au Salon des indépendants.
En 1902, il suit son ami
Emile Boggio et déménage à Vaux sur Seine, ils voyagent ensuite ensemble
en Italie. À partir de ce moment, Thibesart pratique régulièrement le
style « Postimpressionniste ». Il voyage fréquemment en Italie, en
Suisse, en Belgique et en Corse pour capturer la beauté des paysages.
Animé par une grande passion, le peintre crée de nombreux pastels sur le
vif, saisissant les moments et la lumière.
Thibesart consacre soixante dix ans de sa vie à la peinture; et s'éteint en 1968 à l'âge de 94 ans.

Raymond Thibesart was born on 2 May 1874 to a well-to-do family in Bar-sur-Aube. Shortly afterwards, his parents moved to Enghien, on the outskirts of Paris.
Thibesart went on to study at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and the Académie Julian in Paris. His teachers introduced him to the Symbolist movement, which influenced his early work.
In 1897, Raymond Thibésart became a member, then a gold medallist, of the Société des Artistes Français. He exhibited regularly at the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Indépendants.
In 1902, he followed his friend Emile Boggio and moved to Vaux sur Seine; they then travelled together to Italy. From then on, Thibesart regularly painted in the "Postimpressionist" style. He frequently travelled to Italy, Switzerland, Belgium and Corsica to capture the beauty of the landscapes. Driven by a great passion, the painter created numerous pastels on the spot, capturing moments and light.
Thibesart devoted seventy years of his life to painting, and died in 1968 at the age of 94.
