This is a marvellous Antique c1800 Wooden Crimping Roller, used in the home during the 17th, 18th and 19th century to crimp / pleat lace or fabric after it had been washed and starched e.g. cuffs, neck ruffs. It would have had a crimping board to use with it originally but as often is the case with these, have been separated. The roller measures approximately 22.5cm wide end to end of each handle. It’s in good condition with age-related wear but is commensurate with its age.
