This door was made by Yale & Towne Lock circa 1895. It's opened with a key and three working keys are included.  Featured on the door is a flying eagle with a sunburst background. The eagle has arrows in one set of talons and olive branches in the other. This is very similar to the eagle on the United States seal. It's a great work of Art Nouveau. It's made of cast bronze and oevr a 125 years old.

Like with most of the wood I use this cherry is reclaimed just not from a usual source. When I was cleaning out my grandfather's how I ran across a broken cherry wood rocker in the basement. The rockers themselves were broken. I was about to toss the whole thing in the dumpster when I realized I could repurpose some of the wood. So I took a few minutes to save the usable pieces and the result is this bank. I hope you agree it was worth the extra effort. The rocker was over a 100 years old so this is old growth wood.

All of the doors I use in these banks had many years of service in a Post Office and are made of bronze.  I've rebuilt them, cleaned off the grime and got the locks working smoothly. The beauty of the doors is revealed.

There is a coin slot in the top and the bank is about 5 inches wide, 6 1/2 inches high and 4 1/2 inches deep.

They are the perfect gift for anyone, any age. Help a child learn to save, help an adult relive their past or just enjoy the bank as a conversation piece. You'll feel the history every time you use it.
