Scrimshaw Powder Horn Dated 1755 But Date Unknown American Territories Intricate

I have done much research on this unusual horn - suffice to say I can say the details on it are in keeping with the age portrayed - the 15th Foot regiment were in the territories around New York in 1755 fighting the French and Indian War just prior to the seven years war.

The uniform fits the timescale too

But as with all Scrimshaw horns they were made for eager collectors right through to modern times and as I cannot be sure of the validity of the dateline of this horn I have to leave it wide open and say it could have been made at any time since upto 1970s - but it’s got so much detail I think it’s much earlier.

Therefore this magnificent and very interesting horn is sold as “IN THE STYLE OF” Scrimshaw and yon have to make your own mind up as to what you are purchasing 🦚

It’s a bovine horn with a wooden plugged end and the tube end has a small horn shaped piece and a bung piece that pushes in

Size is 12.5” long x 3” dia at widest

Please study the photos well it’s very intricate and even as a later copy it would sit well in a collection
