Vintage Velvet Lined Desk Top Lockable Oak Front Opening Box For Valuables

Very interesting box that I imagine was used to house valuables either on a desk top or hidden in a cupboard. Heavy little thing with pure velvet lining in purple/indigo and a sturdy brass lock in situ in the door with a small key to lock it. Thick oak wood and a campaign style brass carrying handle that folds flat for transportation. Looks hand made probably Edwardian.

A useful box or just for the collector

Handle and lock are a little stiff might benefit from some oil.

Good vintage used condition.

Size is 5.5 x 5.5 x 6.5”
